Chhattisgarh BJP legislator killed in car crash

Raipur, April 9 (IANS) A legislator of Chhattisgarh’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was killed Friday in a car accident, officials said.
Ravi Shankar Tripathi, 55, a first-time legislator from Bhatgaon assembly seat in Surguja district, was killed on the spot when his car hit a tree and then overturned in Gharghora area in Raigarh district, some 270 km from state capital Raipur.
“Tripathi was on way to Raigarh from Ambikapur town, district headquarters of Surguja district, when his speeding car hit a roadside tree and hit another vehicle before overturning,” Raigarh District Collector Ashok Agrawal told media persons
The other three passengers in the car included his gunman. They sustained multiple fractures and were taken to a local hospital.
