Chandigarh to host six-day arts and heritage festival
March 22nd, 2010 - 11:07 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, March 22 (IANS) Chandigarh will organise a six-day extravaganza called ‘Chandigarh Arts and Heritage Festival 2010′ from March 27, an official said Monday.
This festival will kick off on the World Theatre Day which falls on March 27 and will be on till April 1 at Tagore Theatre in Sector 18 and at Sector 17 Plaza, the commercial hub of Chandigarh.
“There will be a gamut of activities like classical vocal recitals, classical dance, literary interactions, screening of films, folk dances, painting and art workshops for the art and theatre lovers. The basic purpose is to promote and put forth classical art from this part of the country,” said the union territory spokesperson here Monday.
Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Mukul Mudgal will inaugurate the festival and it will start with a classical vocal recital by noted vocalist Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar.
“We are expecting the participation of renowned artists from all across the country. During this event, there will be a five-day art workshop at the government museum and art gallery, which will be open for everyone who wants to see the creativity of eminent artists in progress,” the spokesman added.
