Chandigarh multiplex vacated after bomb threat
January 11th, 2011 - 12:05 am ICT by IANSChandigarh, Jan 10 (IANS) A multiplex here was vacated late on Monday after police got a call saying that a bomb was placed in one of its halls, an officer said. A search was still on at the premises two hours after the call was received at 8.30 p.m.According to police, an anonymous caller told the police control room that a bomb was placed at Fun Republic at Manimajra town.
“We immediately reached the multiplex and immediately had it vacated. Heavy police force was deployed all around its premises and bomb disposal squad was called on the spot. So far we have not found any bomb and it seems that it was a hoax call but still our search operation is on,” said a police official, who was present at the spot.
Police said that they were also trying to trace the details of the caller.
Fun Republic is one of the leading and oldest multiplexes of this union territory and is frequented by hundreds of people everyday.
