October 22nd, 2009 - 12:39 am ICT by IANSChandigarh, Oct 21 (IANS) A local city court Wednesday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to submit the status report on their inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the mega projects launched by the administrator of the union territory of Chandigarh S.F. Rodrigues.
Special CBI Judge J.S. Sidhu sought the status report from the CBI by Nov 28, 2009.
“We had filed a complaint with the CBI sleuths and brought various anomalies going on in the mega projects and in the IT park of Chandigarh to their notice. Following our complaint, CBI initiated an inquiry but did not reach any conclusion,” Arvind Thakur, the petitioner and chairperson of Global Human rights Council (GHRC), told IANS here.
Thakur filed a petition in the court here Wednesday.
These mega-projects include various projects like Film city, Medi city, and amusement-cum-theme park. These projects are spread over hundreds of acres and were initiated in this city in the last four years by Rodrigues.
Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) had also recommended a CBI probe against two of these mega-projects.
