Central government deploys flood relief teams
September 20th, 2010 - 10:52 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 20 (IANS) The government Monday said it has deployed several teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) for rescue and relief work in flood hit Uttarakhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
The teams comprise of over 500 people, a home ministry statement said, adding that three teams of 90 NDRF personnel along with 20 boats and other flood and rescue equipment have been deployed at Haridwar in Uttarakhand.
Three other teams comprising of 101 personnel along with 25 boats and other flood and rescue equipment have been deployed in the state’s Rishikesh town.
Besides, Rs.87.5 crore has been made available to the Uttrakhand government.
In Bihar, NDRF consisting of 152 personnel along with 31 boats have been deployed in Gopalganj since Sep 16 for rescue and relief work.
Two teams consisting of 66 NDRF personnel were deployed in Gopalganj Sunday.
Nearly Rs.1.500 crore have been made available to the Bihar government in its Calamity Relief Fund.
In Uttar Pradesh, a total of 79 NDRF personnel along with 11 boats have been deployed at Moradabad and Rampur.
In addition, one team comprising of 40 NDRF personnel with 5 boats and other flood and rescue equipment have been deployed in Rampur Sunday.
Over Rs.668 crore have been made available with the state government.
