CBSE results: Girls outperform boys in foreign centres
May 23rd, 2011 - 4:03 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, May 23 (IANS) Not only in the country, girls outperformed boys in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 12 examinations held at foreign centres as well.
The CBSE class 12 exams were conducted at 45 foreign centres, besides 34 centres in Gulf countries.
According to the results released Monday, a total of 96.85 percent girl students cleared the exams from foreign centres, compared to 91.55 percent boys.
In the Gulf centres, 96.80 percent girls passed the exams, compared to 91.32 percent boys.
On the whole, pass percentage in foreign centres is 94.27 percent, against 92.56 percent last year.
In the Gulf countries, the pass percentage is 94.20 percent, against 93.40 percent in 2010.
A total of 9,068 students appeared from the Gulf centres in Dubai, Doha, Qatar and Kuwait.
From the other foreign centres, 8,532 students appeared this year.
In the seven regions in India whose results were declared Monday, pass percentage of girls was 86.93 percent, compared to 77.83 percent for boys, a CBSE spokesperson said.
The overall pass percentage registered an increase of 1.84 percent over 2010 and stood at 81.71 percent.
