May 23rd, 2011 - 7:00 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, May 23 (IANS) Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) and Kendriya Vidyalayas (central schools) in Delhi have fared better than private schools in this year’s Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 examination, a CBSE spokesperson said here Monday.
“The pass percentage of JNVs (96.52 percent) and KVs (95.63 percent) has been a lot better than the private schools. The private schools in Delhi have a pass percentage of 89.71 percent,” said CBSE spokesperson Rama Sharma.
According to the CBSE, “private unaided schools” are schools run by a society/trust constituted and registered under the provisions of central/state legislations, while KVs and JNVs are autonomous institutions which get funding from the central government, and government schools are run by the state government.
The pass percentage of private schools in Delhi has increased from 87.18 percent in 2010 to 89.71 percent this year.
Government schools in Delhi registered a pass percentage of 87.48 percent this year against last year’s 88.86 percent.
Nation-wide, the pass percentage of JNVs has gone up to 96.89 percent compared to last year’s 95.31 percent, while the Kendriya Vidyalayas have registered 93.38 percent from 2010’s 91.13 percent.
