CBI to probe Jharkhand power board’s functioning
March 28th, 2011 - 11:28 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, March 28 (IANS) The Jharkhand High Court Monday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the functioning of the state electricity board and the cause of the power crisis in the state.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Bhagwati Prasad and Justice D.N. Patel ordered the probe while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL).
The court also asked the CBI to probe the functioning of Patratu Thermal Power Station (PTPS). The probe will find out the reasons for reduced power generation despite a large investment of money.
Jharkhand produces 300-400 MW of power against its requirement of more than 1,400 MW.
