New Delhi, Nov 26 (IANS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at residential and official premises of a woman Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer in Delhi and Bangalore in a disproportionate assets case, an official said Saturday.

“Searches were conducted at four places in New Delhi and Bangalore yesterday (Friday),” CBI spokesperson Dharini Mishra said here.

The raids were conducted after the CBI registered a case against the 2000 batch IAS officer K. Dhanlakshmi, who is currently posted as director in the social justice ministry, for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to her income.

The Uttar Pradesh cadre officer was posted in the external affairs ministry three months ago.

The documents seized during the searches were under scrutiny, Mishra added.

The IAS officer allegedly acquired assets worth Rs.3.15 crore in her name as well as in her mother’s name, the official said.

External Affairs ministry spokesperson Vishnu Prakash said: “It is understood that the CBI conducted some investigations yesterday (Friday), in the apartment of K. Dhanlakshmi. The apartment was allotted to her during her brief tenure in the external affairs ministry.”
