Ranchi, Nov 2 (IANS) The Jharkhand High Court Tuesday stayed till Nov 30 a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in the alleged misuse of secret service (SS) funds in which a former Jharkhand police chief is under the scanner.

“Justice R.R. Prasad has stayed the CBI probe in the SS funds scam till Nov 30. The next hearing of the case will take place on Nov 30,” Anil Singh, Jharkhand advocate general, told reporters.

The court also issued notices to the central and state governments in the case.

Both the governments had given their consent for a CBI probe in the SS funds scam.

Former director general of police V.D. Ram moved the high court to challenge the state government’s consent for a CBI probe in scam.

The scam is related to the withdrawal of Rs.5.60 crore March 16, 2006 and Rs.2.50 crore March 7, 2008 from the police fund.

Two police officers - Ram and former additional director general of police of special branch Rajiv Kumar - are under the scanner for the scam.

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India has also pointed to the alleged misuse of funds and recommended a probe in the matter.
