CBI officers get tips on probes abroad
July 14th, 2011 - 8:29 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 14 (IANS) The Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) Interpol liaison officers from across the country Thursday discussed issues related to seeking assistance in investigations abroad and extradition of fugitives, an official said.
A one-day conference was organised here to familiarise the officers with the functioning, capabilities and limitations of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
The fifth ‘Interpol Liaison Officer’s Conference’ organised by the CBI, which represents India in Interpol, was attended by 36 liaison officers.
“More and more crimes have become transnational and knowledge of rules and procedures for conducting investigations through instruments such as extradition, deportation, utilisation of video conference for examination of witnesses has become essential,” said CBI Special Director Balwinder Singh.
