CBI issues letters rogatory to trace its website defacers
April 5th, 2011 - 6:50 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, April 5 (IANS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has issued letters rogatory to authorities in Pennsylvania, US, and Daugavpils in Latvia in north Europe after finding that attackers from these places defaced the probe agency’s website in 2010.
CBI officials said the two internet protocol (IP) addresses used for defacing the website originated from Pennsylvania and Daugavpils.
The CBI issued the letters last week after the agency moved a local court here for permission to access authorities in the US and Latvia for collecting information on the IP addresses.
The CBI Dec 4, 2010, registered a case against unidentified people of “Pakistani Cyber Army” for defacement of its website, and invoked various sections of the Information Technology Act to do so.
The attackers after defacing the website wrote on it that it was a work of “Pakistan Cyber Army”, said the official.
