New Delhi, Nov 28 (IANS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Monday rescued two businessmen who were kidnapped for ransom and arrested the four kidnappers, CBI officials said.

Abdul Munaf, Sanjeev Radi, Rakesh and Yusuf were arrested from Mohan Garden in south Delhi Monday, CBI spokesperson Dharini Mishra said.

The agency got information that the four were running an abduction and extortion gang. They used to contact businessmen from different parts of the country, lure them to come to Delhi on pretext of business discussions, abduct them and extort money from them.

Two Tamil Nadu-based businessmen, A.G. Lenin and Anandan, had been abducted by the gang and confined somewhere in south Delhi.

“They demanded and received a ransom of Rs.25 lakh through bank transfer in a Delhi-based bank account,” said the official.

Acting on a tip-off, the agency early morning rescued the businessmen from Mohan Garden where they had been kept since Nov 25.

During interrogation, CBI found that Radi is involved in cases of Arms Act and other offences at various police stations in Delhi.

“They are also involved in large scale money laundering activities,” a CBI official said.
