Cash, jewellery wowrth Rs.60 lakh looted in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, July 19 (IANS) Armed robbers looted cash and jewellery worth over Rs.60 lakh from a jeweller’s employee in Ghaziabad Tuesday, police said.

The incident occurred around 8.30 p.m. near Amrit Nagar residential locality.

Narendra Sehgal an employee of jeweller Jagan Nath used to bring finished goods from markets in Delhi. He was attacked and robbed and is now in hospital.

His son Sanjay said that the robbers hit his father’s head and robbed a bag carrying valuables.

“Although the family members suspect the robbed articles were valued over Rs.60 lakh but the exact amount could only be ascertained after the victim gains consciousness. We are trying to nab the culprits,” said the Superintendent of Police, City, J.K. Shahi.
