Cash, jewellery worth Rs.10 mn seized from bureaucrat’s house
November 30th, 2009 - 9:05 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Nov 30 (IANS) A week after it arrested a senior member of the Company Law Board for graft, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Monday said it has recovered cash, jewellery and fixed deposits, estimated at nearly Rs.10 million, during raids at his house in Chennai.
“We found Rs.8.4 million in cash in three lockers in R.Vasudevan’s Chennai residence. Around 450 gm of gold, 10 kg silver and details of fixed deposits worth Rs.690,000 were also recovered,” a CBI spokesman said here.
A fourth locker in the house was yet to be opened.
Vasudevan was caught here Nov 23 while accepting a bribe of Rs.700,000 to favour a particular party in a case he was presiding over.
