Case against portal for misleading students
December 8th, 2009 - 8:10 pm ICT by IANSBhopal, Dec 8 (IANS) The Rajiv Gandhi Prodyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) has lodged a police complaint against a website for spreading misinformation about the timing of its semester exams, university officials said Tuesday.
“The website www.indiabuzz.ne8.in has uploaded the wrong timetable of the university’s semester exams, thus misguiding the students. Besides, the website also contains abusive posts directed at the university authorities,” said the complaint made to Bhopal police.
Making it clear that the semester exams would be held from Dec 22 as announced earlier, the university has urged the students not to fall prey to any misinformation.
“The authentic details about the exams and other related matter are available on the website of the university - www.rgtu.net or on www.mponline.nic.in,” Vice-Chancellor Dr Piyush Trivedi said.
“Besides the misleading information that the exams would begin from Dec 31 instead of Dec 22, there are several abusive posts on the site. Many of them have been directed at the university authorities,” he said, adding they had lodged an FIR with the Gandhi Nagar police and the matter will also be forwarded to the cyber cell for investigation and action.
