Case against jail staff after mobiles found in raid
February 7th, 2011 - 8:05 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, Feb 7 (IANS) A case has been lodged against the jailer and seven staff of the central jail here following recovery of mobiles and other forbidden material from prisoners, police said Monday.”The FIR has been lodged in Sadar police station against eight people including Jailer Bipin Sinha, Assistant Jailer Srikant and others in connection with recovery of mobile, SIM cards and others things,” a police officer told IANS.
Police had raided the Birsa Munda Central Jail of Ranchi Feb 2 and recovered mobile phones, SIM cards and chargers. Police officials claimed some prisoners got information of the raids and hid their mobiles.
Police also charged the jail officials with helping the inmates get mobiles and other material not allowed to them in the jail.
