Capital region cops meet to tackle inter-state gangs
December 15th, 2010 - 11:20 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 15 (IANS) Top police officers of Delhi and national capital region (NCR) met here Wednesday to deliberate on tackling inter-state criminals.”The officers exchanged information on inter-state criminals and discussed joint operation strategies,” a senior police officer said.
Top police officers of Gurgaon, Faridabad, Meerut, Rohtak, Ghaziabad, Noida, Alwar and Jhajjar were present in the meeting, which was chaired by Delhi Police Commissioner B.K. Gupta.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of many incidents involving criminals from outside Delhi, including the gangrape of a 30-year-old BPO staffer Nov 23 by five men from Mewat in Haryana.
The officer added that joint checking of commercial vehicles at Delhi’s borders was mooted.
“The strategy to check vehicle thefts was also discussed and it was decided to ask automobile manufacturers to install safety devices,” he said.
Speeding up the arrests of proclaimed offenders and keeping surveillance on criminals released from jail were also discussed.
The meeting ended with discussions on the security arrangements needed for the Republic Day celebrations next month.
