Cancer over, Yuvraj enthrals his fans
September 11th, 2012 - 9:44 pm ICT by IANSChennai, Sep 11 (IANS) The MA Chidambaram Stadium here erupted in frenzy Tuesday night as the poster boy of Indian cricket Yuvraj Singh stepped on to the field after overcoming his battle against cancer.
The second of the two Twenty20 international here against New Zealand was Yuvraj’s first international match since his last appearance in a Test match against West Indies in Kolkata in November 2011.
What followed was grim battle with a rare germ cell cancer and months of treatment in Boston, US.
With cancer now a thing of past, Yuvraj, who was overweight after treatment, Tuesday looked fit but a shadow of his past.
Just hours before the match, Yuvraj said he is getting restless before stepping on to the field.
“Getting very restless! Just few more hours to go hope it doesn’t rain in the evening!,” tweeted Yuvraj from his account.
