New Delhi, Aug 8 (IANS) The Comptroller and Auditor General’s report on the Commonwealth Games has not indicted Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, rather it has praised the city government for improving infrastructure in the national capital, Delhi Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said Monday.
“The CAG report nowhere mentions the name of chief minister or any other minister but has acknowledged the improvement of infrastructure in the city,” Lovely told reporters here.
Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is demanding the resignation of Dikshit over the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, Lovely accused the opposition of trying to politicise the report.
“The CAG report has nowhere used the words like scam or corruption. It is an audit body and a government cannot resign just on the basis of audit done by the CAG,” he said.
Lovely said all the contracts were cleared by the cabinet at the centre.
Dikshit Monday responded to opposition demand for her resignation with a terse, “Let them do what they want to”.
Both houses of parliament were adjourned Monday over the CAG report, that indicted the Delhi government, Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and former Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (OC) chief Suresh Kalmadi for irregularities in the Games.
