Cabinet approves defence land transfer to central school
June 16th, 2011 - 11:56 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, June 16 (IANS) The union cabinet Thursday approved the lease transfer of a 15.19 acre of defence land to a central school in Haryana’s Gurgaon, adjacent to the national capital.
“The cabinet Thursday approved the proposal of the ministry of defence for transfer on lease basis of 15.19 acres of defence land in perpetuity to Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) for construction of class rooms and staff quarters and provisioning of various other infrastructural amenities,” a government statement issued here said.
The infrastructure is required for proper functioning of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 on Sohana Road, Gurgaon.
“The land will be transferred on lease basis at a nominal rent of Re.1 (rupee one only) annually (without any premium) and in terms of existing government policy on the subject,” it said.
The formalities relating to transfer of the land to the KVS would be completed within three months. The KVS will later construct school buildings on the leased land as per their own specifications and with their own funds.
“The transfer of land would facilitate creation of permanent school building and other related infrastructure like staff quarters, and play ground at the KV school in Air Force Communication Centre and Transmitting Station (AFCCTS), Gurgaon,” the government said.
“This would provide a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning and also increase educational opportunities for the children of both defence personnel and civilians in the area,” it added.
