New Delhi, July 6 (IANS) An automobile component maker, who allegedly kidnapped a five-year-old boy for ransom to repay his debt after getting inspired from a movie, was arrested Wednesday in north Delhi, police said.

Milind Godi alias Manku, 26, was apprehended after a short chase on Rohtak Road after he went to collect Rs.15 lakh ransom for freeing Class 1 student Ram Arora, a resident of Punjabi Bagh.

His arrest came after a complaint from the boy’s father Shiv Arora who stated that his youngest son had been kidnapped July 5.

When Arora got a call for ransom, he decided to meet the kidnapper at Alipur.

Manku was arrested after a chase and the child was rescued.

“The accused started gambling and suffered huge loss. He ran up debts and in order to pay the money back, he thought of an idea to kidnap a child. He disclosed that he got this idea from a movie,” said a police official.
