The bus, going to Meerut, hit Kapil, a Class 9 student, when he was crossing a road in the morning.
In no time, Kapil’s schoolmates and students of other schools took over the highway and attacked vehicles at random. They also ransacked shops and other establishments.
When the police tried to control the mob which also included locals, the Niwari police post was set on fire along with a fire tender rushing to put down the blaze.
The rioting raged for over two hours, said Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Mishra.
