Malaga (Spain), April 20 (DPA) Nine Finnish tourists were killed and 35 others injured Saturday night when a bus they were travelling in collided with another vehicle in southern Spain, police and rescue authorities said. The 46 people on the bus were part of a tour group from Finland being taken to Malaga’s airport at the end of their vacation when the accident took place in Benalmadena in Costa del Sol region, the police said.
The bus crashed sideways into a sports-utility vehicle, lost control and plunged down a slope. In addition to the deaths, 19 people were seriously injured.
The police said that the SUV driver was under the influence of alcohol.
The bus accident was the worst in Spain in more than seven years.
