Burglars loot jewellery worth Rs.25 lakh
March 14th, 2011 - 11:31 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 14 (IANS) Burglars looted jewellery worth Rs.25 lakh from a showroom in east Delhi after blinding CCTV cameras, police said Monday. Angry residents protested against the incident.
The burglars struck at the showroom owned by Anil Bansal in Farsh Bazar area Sunday night.
“To hide their identity, the burglars covered (with paper and cloth) the CCTV cameras installed in the showroom,” said a senior police officer.
The burglars entered the showroom after making a hole in the roof of the showroom.
Bansal told IANS: “I reached my jewellery showroom around 10 a.m. today (Monday). I was shocked when I opened the main gate. The entire jewellery was missing and the roof was punctured.”
“Prima facie, it seems to be a handiwork of someone close to the victim as it was meticulously planned,” said a police officer.
