Bureaucrat couple’s son seeks bail
February 26th, 2010 - 10:50 pm ICT by IANSPanchkula (Haryana), Feb 26 (IANS) The son of a former bureaucrat couple in Punjab Friday filed for anticipatory bail in a case of an attempt to murder registered against him last month.
Ranjit Bajaj’s counsel moved the plea in the court of additional district and sessions judge Sanjeev Jindal. The court asked police to submit their reply by March 5.
Ranjit, the only son of retired bureaucrats B.R. Bajaj and Rupan Deol Bajaj, was booked for an attempt to murder Jan 29 following a complaint from Gurmohan Singh Bedi, son of Punjab and Haryana High Court Judge M.M.S. Bedi.
Gurmohan alleged that Ranjit, along with two private security guards, hit him with weapons at the North Park resort here over a parking argument at the winter ball of St John’s Old Boys Association (SJOBA).
He said Ranjit threatened to kill him. Ranjit is absconding and police are on a lookout for him.
“Our investigations are on. We have gathered some vital clues about his whereabouts and will catch him soon,” said Maneesh Chaudhary, Panchkula district police chief.
