Buddhadeb to skip CPI-M politburo, central committee meetings
June 10th, 2011 - 1:16 am ICT by IANSKolkata, June 9 (IANS) Former West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has decided to skip the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) politburo and central committee meetings that would discuss the defeat of the party-led governments in West Bengal and Kerala. The meetings will be held in Hyderabad.
While the politburo is scheduled to meet Friday, the two-day central committee meeting is slated to begin Saturday.
CPI-M state secretary Biman Bose claimed that Bhattacharjee would stay away from the meetings due to health reasons.
“His health is very weak for quite some time. He cancelled his ticket today (Thursday) as he is not in a condition to travel. He can only travel from home to the party office and from the party office to home,” said Bose.
Two days after the party-led Left Front’s defeat in the state assembly elections, Bhattacharjee had skipped the politburo meeting in Delhi May 15.
