Buddha welcomes Obama as US president

Barack ObamaKolkata, Nov 5 (IANS) West Bengal’s communist Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Wednesday welcomed the election of Barack Obama as US president, expressing happiness that an African American was taking over the mantle at the White House.”This is the first time in the history of the United States that a black president will enter the White House,” Bhattacharjee told newspersons during a function here.

“Some of you must have already heard that Obama has won the US presidential election,” the chief minister said with a smile before he began his speech at an official programme.
