Bangalore, Sep 11 (IANS) The West Bengal government has urged IT major Infosys not to abandon plans to invest in the state because of the uncertainty over Tata Motors’ Nano car project in Singur over a land acquisition row.Infosys has plans to set up a development centre in West Bengal on an investment of Rs.2.5 billion.

But Infosys human resources director T.V. Mohandas Pai Monday said the company may have to rethink following the experience of Tata Motors.

West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya is reported to have called Infosys and assured support for the investment plan.

“The West Bengal government has talked to us and made encouraging remarks,” Pai told reporters here on the sidelines of a company event.

“We are yet to take a decision,” he said.

“I had said we will have to relook and rethink because we are concerned about the safety of our employees,” Pai said.
