New Delhi, Oct 3 (IANS) A 25-year-old man was arrested for kidnapping and molesting a 15-year-old girl while his younger brother was arrested for raping her when she refused to marry him, police said Saturday.
Rinku, who is married, was insisting the victim get married to his brother Deepak, police said.

When she refused do so, they kept her hostage for 10 days in their Model Town house in northwest Delhi, “where the elder brother molested her and the younger one raped her. They also threatened her with dire consequences,” said a police officer.

They were arrested Thursday after Rinku’s wife informed the girl’s grandfather and the police.

“We have registered a case of rape against Deepak and kidnapping and molestation against Rinku,” the officer added.

Police said the victim has been staying with her grandfather after her mother’s death and her father’s second marriage.

“She had developed a relationship with a boy in her neighbourhood. They had plans to elope and get married. She packed her luggage and ran away from her house on Sep 7. But her lover later refused to elope with her. Rinku saw her sitting in a park and befriended her,” said the police officer.

“After wining her confidence, Rinku took her to his house. He told his wife she had lost her memory and did not remember anything about her family. Rinku’s wife then agreed to let the girl stay in their home,” the officer added.

Police said Rinku’s wife, however, got suspicious and found out about the rape. She took the victim to her grandfather’s house and called up the police.
