New Delhi, Aug 29 (IANS) Two brothers, both minors, were found strangled in the room of a tenant in a north Delhi house, police said Monday. The man was absconding.

The bodies of Sooraj Gupta, 7, and Gopal Gupta, 5, were found hidden under a bed inside the room of Ashok Gupta in the house in Jahangirpuri.

“Ashok Gupta is absconding after the incident,” said a senior police officer.

The siblings lived with their parents, Raja Ram Gupta and Phool Kumari, on the second floor of the house, where Ashok Gupta also lived. The building is owned by Raja Ram’s father-in-law, police said.

“The siblings were alone in the house when they were murdered,” said the officer.

Raja Ram, who makes a living by driving his three-wheeler, had left for work in the morning as usual.

After the children returned from their tuition classes at noon, their mother went to buy some household goods from a nearby market. She told police that Ashok was present in the house when she had left, police said.

Phool Kumari returned after around one hour and found that her sons as well as Ashok were missing and informed police.

Later, police found the siblings lying dead inside Ashok’s room. They were rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared them dead.

According to police, Ashok lived as a tenant in a room next to that of Raja Ram.

“He also used to take his meals at Raja Ram’s house. Three days ago, Ashok had a minor quarrel with Raja Ram and since then he was not having food at Raja Ram’s house,” said the officer.
