Briton suspected of cruelty to cat surrenders
November 12th, 2011 - 9:39 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Nov 12 (IANS) A 20-year-old Briton, suspected of swinging a cat by its tail for as many as 14 times, has handed himself over to the police.
The incident was filmed Oct 26 in Ramsgate town of southeast England’s Kent county, the Daily Express reported.
In the footage, the two-year-old cat, Mowgli, was seen being swung around at least 14 times by his attacker, narrowly missing parked cars and fences.
Riain Richards was being sought by the animal welfare charity group Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) inspectors for the act.
Though the cat escaped serious injury but his owner said he was left traumatised by the incident.
Richards was reported to RSPCA officers Thursday following a police appeal.
