London, Jan 14 (IANS) A 26-year-old Briton has been sentenced to jail for 20 years for trying to murder his fiancee by burying her alive in a cardboard box. The woman, however, survived.

Marcin Kasprzak attacked 27-year-old Michelina Lewandowska with an electric-shock gun and then bound and gagged her before burying her in the box under soil, leaves and a 40-kg tree branch, The Sun reported.

Lewandowska used her engagement ring to cut out of the box buried in a wooded area near the couple’s home in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

Kasprzak, who accepted charges of kidnapping and possessing a weapon, was convicted of attempted murder by the Leeds Crown Court.
