British filmmakers dumbing down for US market: McCavoy
May 27th, 2011 - 4:02 am ICT by IANSLondon, May 27 (IANS) Actor James McCavoy feels that British moviemakers are “dumbing down” to satisfy the US market.
The 32-year-old Scottish actor believes British directors are making too many compromises when it comes to filmmaking, reports express.co.uk
“We dumb our movies down because we want Americans to understand them. The Americans watch it and go ‘This is a really unsophisticated dumbed down movie. Why would we want this? Why do we like this? We don’t.’ It’s like we’re patronising them and short changing ourselves…,” he told Sky News.
