Britain opens Chevening scholarship for leadership training
December 23rd, 2009 - 4:42 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Dec 23 (IANS) The British government has announced the Chevening Gurukul scholarship for 2010 under its flagship scholarship scheme for mid to senior level professionals in India.
The programme, announced Wednesday, enables mid to senior level professionals in any field to study leadership and public policy at the London School of Economics. It was first launched in 1997 to mark 50 years of India’s independence.
A 12-week, all expenses paid course, the scholarship programme is open to candidates who have demonstrated leadership skills in their field of profession and a drive to make a difference.
An official of the British Council here said: “The 12-week advanced leadership programme offers a combination of closely supervised academic courses, field visits, seminars, debates and interactions with today’s top leaders.”
“The programme is suitable for those who are already rising in their respective fields but would like to develop new skills. It is a programme created for India’s future leaders,” the official added.
Open only to those holding Indian passports, application for this programme are being accepted now. The deadline is Jan 20, 2010.
The course will commence late September next year.
