Bride, 12 of marriage party killed in Orissa train-SUV crash (Second Lead)

Bhubhaneshwar, Feb 22 (IANS) A bride and 12 other people were killed when a train rammed an SUV at an unmanned level crossing near Bargarh town in Orissa Sunday, officials said.
Two people were critically injured.

A Mahindra Bolero vehicle passing an unmanned level crossing near Bargarh town, some 380 km from here, was hit by the Bolangir-Bhubaneswar Intercity Express coming from Bolangir at around 4 p.m., East Coast Railway’s chief public relations officer J.P. Mishra said.

According to the police, the passengers in the Bolero were members of a marriage party and the bride was among those killed.

“Thirteen people, including the bride, were killed and two critically injured,” deputy superintendent of police T.P. Patra told IANS over phone from the spot.

Soon after the accident, hundreds of residents of the nearby villages rushed to the spot and did not allow the train to move.
