Breezy morning in Delhi, rain likely

New Delhi, May 20 (IANS) After a series of sweltering days and soaring temperatures, Delhi woke up to a breezy morning Friday with the weather office holding out the possibility of light showers later in the day.

The minimum temperature settled at 27.1 degrees Celsius, two degrees above the average temperature for the season. The minimum temperature has come down by a notch compared to Thursday’s 28.8 degrees Celsius.

Adding to the respite, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast light rain towards the evening.

“It would be a windy morning with the skies becoming partly cloudy by afternoon or evening. There is possibility of light rain or thundershower later in the day,” said an IMD official.

The maximum temperature recorded Thursday was 42.2 degrees Celsius, three degrees above the normal.

“Maximum and minimum temperature are expected to be around 40 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively,” added the weatherman.

Humidity recorded was 60 percent.
