New Delhi, Jan 15 (IANS) A young boy averted a major train mishap in the capital Sunday by alerting the authorities after noticing cracks in the railway tracks, an official said.

The boy informed the authorities around 7.20 a.m. that there were cracks on the tracks in east Delhi’s Mandawli area. “The cracks might have developed due to the cold weather,” a railway spokesperson said.

“The movement of trains on that line was stopped and the damage was rectified within 20 minutes. Normal train services have resumed on the line,” he added.
