Border management mechanism with China by year end
November 11th, 2011 - 3:58 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Nov 11 (IANS) India Friday said it will have a border dispute management mechanism with China by the yearend.
Defence Minister A.K. Antony told reporters that both India and China had decided to have a new defence mechanism to resolve the long pending border dispute and all work regarding setting up the mechanism was complete.
“The border dispute is pending. Both governments took a decision to have a new defence mechanism to resolve the border issue. Arrangements are over and we will have mechanisms by the end of this year,” he said on the sidelines of a defence event.
Antony was responding to reporters’ queries about Chinese media reports that criticised India’s proposed military infrastructure and force accretion in border areas.
On Thursday, the Chinese media had slammed the proposed military build-up by New Delhi on the China-India border and also the close ties it is forging with East Asian nations such as Japan and Vietnam.
