Bopara to skip IPL for Tests
April 10th, 2011 - 8:28 pm ICT by IANSLondon, April 10 (IANS) England all-rounder Ravi Bopara has decided to skip the Indian Premier League (IPL) to prove his worth in the Test side.
Bopara, who was picked by Rajasthan Roayls for the fourth season, wishes to score heavily for his county Essex in championship as he eyes recently retired Paul Collingwood’s place in the Test team.
Graham Gooch, batting coach for England and Essex, feels Bopara has made the right decision.
“I think he has made the right decision. He is very motivated to achieve and if he wants to make his mark on the Test side he will only do that with championship runs. He can’t further his cause in the IPL, however many runs he gets,” Gooch was quoted as saying in the Guardian.
