November 24th, 2009 - 11:25 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Nov 24 (IANS) Remember the fantasy adventure novel, “Life of Pi”? Yann Martel, the Booker Prize winner is now all set with his second book that will be on the stands by mid-2010.
“Beatrice and Virgil”, as Martel’s second novel is called, follows Henry, a prize winning writer who wants to write a book on the Holocaust and is pulled into the world of a taxidermist and the lives of a donkey named Beatrice and a monkey called Virgil.
According to Diya Kar Hazra of Penguin India, who have acquired the Indian subcontinent rights of the book, just like the “Life of Pi”, this too is a wildly imaginative and multi-layered novel.
“This novel leaves you asking questions and reflecting on violence, the unspeakable horrors of the Holocaust, life and art, remembrance and forgetting, moral engagement and moral compromise,” Hazra said.
