Gandhinagar, Dec 1 (IANS) Police Tuesday received SMSes that bombs had been placed in Ahmedabad and Block No.1 of the State Secretariat here that houses the chief minister’s office, officials said. However, after searches, it turned out to be a hoax.
The SMSes immediately triggered off a massive search operation both in Ahmedabad and the state capital. The searches were called off after police realised that it was a hoax.

“Besides intensifying the patrolling and search in Ahmedabad, the district superintendent of police, Gandhinagar was immediately alerted as Block No.1 of the State Secretariat houses the chief minister’s office and those of other ministers,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime) Ahmedabad, Abhay Chudasama said.

“The dog squad was also pressed into service. However, nothing was found in the search,” he added.

Efforts are on to trace the source of the hoax SMSes.
