Bomb explosion in Guwahati, no one injured
July 15th, 2010 - 11:37 pm ICT by IANSGuwahati, July 15 (IANS) Alert policemen noticed a suspicious package in the busy Fancy Bazar here Thursday night and got the market area evacuated, preventing what could have been a major tragedy. The bomb went off within minutes, but no one was injured, police said.
The bomb, described by police as a timed improvised explosive device, exploded at 9.10 p.m.
According to police, at about 8.50 p.m. a patrol party noticed an unclaimed jute bag lying on the pavement with a package inside. They immediately ordered people in the market to leave and called the bomb disposal squad.
But before the bomb disposal squad could come, the bomb exploded.
