Paris, July 7 (IANS/CMC) Usain Bolt says working on his fluency and technique are far more important to him in the 200 metres run at the IAAF Diamond League meet here Friday.

The reigning Olympic and World double sprint champion is making a comeback to competition following a back injury that cut short his season last year.

“Training has been good, I went back to Jamaica after (the Diamond League meet in) Oslo,” he said.

“Me and the coach sat down and watched a few tapes and we worked out what we need to work on, so I’m feeling much better and much more confident.”

“My technique, my fluency wasn’t there. I didn’t look as smooth as I used to be. My style was OK, but my drive phase wasn’t as fluent as it used to be.

“It’s only my second 200m of the season (in Paris), and I’m just working on technique. It’s all about execution in this race, and trying to get the perfect execution. It should be a good time, if the corner and drive phase go well.”

Bolt said expectations are very high for him, but many people feel that he has lost form and can be beaten.

“I’m the Olympic and World champion,” he said. “My goal is to defend my titles. I want to be a legend of the sport, and if I do this, it’ll make me one.

“The key thing is to get back to my best. I never want to take it lightly. I never think about one athlete.

“I’m working hard to get back to my level. I won’t get complacent because it’s all about business.”
