Boca beat Universidad in Copa Libertadores semis
June 15th, 2012 - 4:15 pm ICT by IANSRio de Janeiro, June 15 (IANS) Goals on either side of the break from Santiago Silva and Juan Sanchez Mino gave Argentine club Boca Juniors a 2-0 victory over Universidad de Chile in their Copa Libertadores first leg semifinal.
Silva opened the scoring on 15 minutes at the Bombonera Stadium in Buenos Aires with a neat turn and finish after Pablo Moucho’s cross Thursday.
Nine minutes into the second half Universidad goalkeeper Johnny Herrera saved a Walter Erviti shot from close range only for Mino to bundle in the rebound, reported Xinhua.
The teams will meet in the second leg in Santiago next Thursday with the aggregate winner advancing to the final against the victor of the other semi-final between Corinthians and Santos.
Corinthians won the first leg 1-0 away from home, with the return match to be played at the Pacaembu Stadium in Sao Paulo Wednesday.
