Blind kidnapping case solved
January 25th, 2011 - 12:53 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 24 (IANS) Delhi Police Monday said they had solved a blind case of kidnapping with the recovery of a young woman abducted from Delhi’s LNJP Hospital in Karnal in Haryana. According to the police, the woman was sold off to a handicapped man in Haryana.
The woman, a resident of eastern Uttar Pradesh had come to Delhi with her husband for treatment at LNJP. She was kidnapped Jan 9 by a man who pretended to help the couple in finding accomodation.
Police officials said the kidnapper met the couple at the station and accompanied them to the hospital on the pretext of helping them. He then took the woman’s husband to show some accomodation, where he left him and disappeared.
“When the man came back to the hospital, he found his wife missing. When he enquired from the other patients, they informed that his wife was taken away by the person who had taken him along for searching for accommodation,” a police official said, adding that an FIR was lodged.
“It was a blind case of kidnapping and there were no clues about the accused person. Several sources were deployed and local intelligence was also gathered and technical surveillance was also mounted since the victim was learnt to be carrying a mobile phone,” the official said.
“After several efforts, the kidnappers were traced to Haryana and two of them, namely Ramesh alias Ravi and Rahul, were arrested from Delhi and Ambala, respectively,” he said adding that the woman was found in Karnal.
“The victim was recovered from Karnal, Haryana, where she was sold to a handicapped person namely Karan Singh of village Bijna,” the official said.
The officials added that on investigation it was revealed that the two men were part of a six-member gang that also had two women. They targeted young women and girls at railway stations and bus terminals to sell them off.
“Further investigation is in progress to arrest the remaining accused,” the official added.
