Blackmailing drives youth to suicide

Lucknow, Feb 13 (IANS) A man who had an affair with his neighbour’s wife killed himself in Jhansi town of Uttar Pradesh after he was frustrated by a blackmailer’s constant demands for money, police said.”Thirty-year-old Ajay Kumar Yadav ended his life Saturday night by hanging himself from the ceiling of his room in Sipri Bazar locality because he could no longer face blackmailing by Bhupendra, who had managed to gather videographic evidence of his illicit affair,” a police spokesman said.

“Investigations have revealed that Ajay had twice shelled out Rs.80,000 to Bhupendra, yet he was under constant pressure from him for more money. Unable to meet his unending demands, Ajay chose to hang himself,” the spokesman added.

The police have booked Bhupendra for abetment to suicide. He is, however, yet to be arrested.
