BJP woos Bengal voters with good governance promise

Siliguri/Jalpaiguri (West Bengal), April 15 (IANS) Criticising both the Left Front for 34 years of misrule and the Congress-Trinamool combine for price rise and and corruption, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday claimed that only it can provide good governance in West Bengal.
“Over past three decades of Left Front rule in West Bengal, there has been no development. The government has also failed to set up industry or provide opportunities to the youths. It has done nothing for the common people,” said former BJP president Rajnath Singh at Siliguri.
On the issue of skyrocketing prices of the essential commodities and the suffering of the common people, he said: “The prices were in control when the BJP was in power at the centre. Only the BJP thinks for the common people and can control the ever increasing prices.”
He also blamed both the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the centre and Left Front government in the state for failing to solve the Gorkhaland issue.
“The long standing problem in the Darjeeling hills could only be solved through proper talks and for that each of the parties need to come forward.”
In Jalpaiguri’s Nagrakata area, senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley said: “The UPA is corrupt. The Trinamool Congress, an ally of the UPA government, cannot escape the responsibility.”
