Bharatiya Janata Party Kolkata, April 8 (IANS) Supporting social reformer Anna Hazare’s indefinite fast in New Delhi for strong anti-graft legislation in the country, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said Friday it wanted a Lokpal Bill with strong provisions to stamp out corruption.

“We want a powerful Lokpal Bill to fight corruption. It is the movement of the people which Anna Hazare is carrying out. The BJP will support those people who fight against corruption,” BJP spokesperson Shahnawz Hussain said at a press conference here.

Anna Hazare is on a fast-unto-death since Tuesday at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi with hundreds of supporters to press for a joint committee of government representatives and civil society to draft a stringent Lokpal Bill.

“We want that people with black money should be arrested,” Hussain said.

“During the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) government, the amount of corruption surpassed the Bofors case. This government gained a bad name within the first l00 days of its regime,” he added.
