New Delhi, March 21 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party MPs will Tuesday stage a demonstration near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Parliament House complex in support of their demand for special status category for Bihar, party leader Shahnawaz Hussain said here.
“BJP MPs will stage a dharna (demonstration) tomorrow on Bihar Divas in support of demand for special status to the state,” Hussain said.
He said that Tuesday’s Bihar Divas marks the 99th anniversary of the state, which was carved out from the Bengal presidency by the British March 22, 1912.
Large scale programmes have been planned in Patna to mark the occasion.
Hussain said that National Democratic Alliance leaders had been raising the demand of special status for Bihar in parliament and the government should concede it. Special category status entails more liberal funding from the central government in different schemes.
